in this lifetime
i hope i get the chance to make you feel loved again,
without it hurting your heart or causing you pain
i hope that in this lifetime
we'll get to share bedsheets and cuddle again as we go to sleep
and we'll spend the days making more memories we could keep
in this lifetime
i hope we get another chance to still make a beautiful life for us
even if we lost many years of it to grief and wounds that we didn't deserve
i hope in this lifetime
we get that chance again, and this time
we are kinder to the parts of us that needed to heal
they say distance only separates those who already wanted to leave
and i know in my heart we both never wanted that
so my hope is that, as the day ends and another one begins,
each one would bring us closer to the day we're in each other's world again. 💛
